gobowling.comArlington, TX (July 30, 2012) - Thousands of bowling centers across the United States are joining together to roll out the first-ever National Bowling Day on Saturday, August 11.  On National Bowling Day, America will bowl for free - anyone and everyone can go to www.GoBowling.com to access a free game coupon and find participating centers closest to them.  The coupon can also be accessed by "liking" the GoBowling Facebook page.  Select centers will also host special events that include activities for all ages, quick and easy league sign-up, free coaching clinics and other fun events.

"For the first time ever, the bowling industry has come together to create a single day to celebrate this great American past time.  The beauty of bowling is that there are no barriers.  People of all ages and from all walks of life can play, compete and have fun - and everyone is invited to bowl for free on Saturday, August 11," said Steve Johnson, executive director of the Bowling Proprietors' Association of America (BPAA).

Added Johnson, "The creation of the National Bowling Day holiday speaks to the increased solidarity across our industry, which has helped propel a tremendous resurgence for bowling."

Over the past five years, bowling has seen steady growth and is currently ranked the nation's number one participatory sport with more than 71 million people taking to the lanes every year. The resurgence has been fueled by heightened participation among women and youth, the emergence of a new breed of family entertainment centers with increased amenities, and greater collaboration across the industry.
