Executives from Leading Organizations in Bowling Gather to Discuss the International Bowling Campus and Increased Collaboration within the Industry

ARLINGTON, Texas - November 13, 2012 -As part of the 2013 Bowling Summit, senior executives from three leading entities will convene to host a first-ever "Uniting the Industry" panel. The discussion will feature representatives from each of the key bowling industry organizations that are headquartered within the International Bowling Campus (IBC). The conversation will look at increased collaboration within the industry, the impact of the IBC and continued improvements that will be made in the years ahead.

This session will be offered to proprietors on Monday January 28, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. local time. Representatives from the IBC who will be leading discussions and answering questions from attendees include:

  • The Bowling Proprietors' Association of America (BPAA): President Cathy DeSocio and Executive Director Steve Johnson
  • The United States Bowling Congress (USBC): President Andrew Cain and Executive Director Stu Upson
  • Strike Ten Entertainment (STE): Chairman Anthony Perrone and President Frank DeSocio

"It is no coincidence that the resurgence of the bowling industry we've seen in recent years comes at a time of unparalleled collaboration within the industry," said BPAA President Cathy DeSocio. "Three years ago, we literally broke new ground with the creation of the International Bowling Campus and the result has been a succession of integrated programs and initiatives that provide tremendous value to all of our stakeholders from proprietors and business partners to league bowlers and recreational enthusiasts."

The IBC, located in Arlington, Texas, celebrated its grand opening January 25, 2010 as the headquarters for the bowling industry and over 70 million bowlers in the United States. The 100[RD1] ,000 square-foot-plus campus is home to more than 200 employees and is located near Six Flags Over Texas Theme Park, Rangers Ballpark in Arlington and Cowboys Stadium. The IBC houses the resources of the United States Bowling Congress, the governing body and membership organization for the sport; the Bowling Proprietors' Association of America, representing the business interests of bowling centers; Strike Ten Entertainment, the marketing arm for the industry; the International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame; The Bowling Foundation; the International Bowling Pro Shop and Instructors Association; the International Bowling Media Association; the Bowling News Network; the Billiard and Bowling Institute of America; and the International Training and Research Center.

"By housing all of the leading entities in bowling under one roof, we've created an environment of innovation, transparency, collaboration and information sharing. Many of these same principles and values also apply to other facets of bowling and this panel will explore how proprietors can learn from our best practices and also what to expect in the future," said USBC President Andrew Cain. "At this year's Bowling Summit we will arm attendees with the information they need to help their businesses benefit from the increased unity within our industry."

The BPAA's Bowling Summit is the premier annual strategic mid-winter conference for bowling center proprietors, managers and industry leaders, offering education, networking and industry insights on new and upcoming products.

"We encourage proprietors making the very worthwhile trip to San Antonio to join in on the discussion. The panel will cover information that all will benefit from. The continued growth and success of bowling is absolutely contingent upon our ability to work together and drive innovation as one industry," said Strike Ten Chairman Anthony Perrone. "The focus on innovation is particularly critical. Working together across the industry, we're introducing ground-breaking programs and leveraging new technology to unlock opportunities that are helping proprietors grow their bottom lines right now and also safeguarding the future of bowling."

The 2013 Bowling Summit will be held January 27-30, 2013, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel on the Riverwalk in San Antonio, Texas. This session is part of the education series taking place at the Summit this year.   To register or receive additional information, please visit http://www.bpaa.com/Meetings.asp
